X-Rays
At Nevada Spine and Disc our Chiropractors are well trained in taking thorough X-Rays, allowing our doctors to properly diagnose you, and create a precise treatment plan. While X-Rays are highly effective, our Chiropractic doctors only request them when medically necessary.
Radiation from X-Rays
Some patients are concerned with the amount of radiation they are exposed to from an X-ray. On average, each person receives about 300 MREM of radiation exposure just from natural background radiation every year. A Chiropractic X-Ray of the low back is 100 MREM of radiation exposure. This is significantly lower than other imaging options, such as CT scans.
The current federal exposure limit for an adult is 5000 MREM or radiation exposure per year or a maximum of 3000 MREM of radiation exposure in a single dose. As you can see, the low level of radiation a patient is exposed to for an X-Ray is considerably lower than standard safety limits allow.
Certified in X-Ray Safety
At Nevada Spine and Disc, we take X-Ray radiation safety seriously. Any trained member of our team performing X-Rays on patients is well trained, experienced, and state certified in X-Ray radiation safety. Our X-Ray unit is very minimal in the amount of radiation exposure to your body. An X-Ray is used to determine a multitude of bone injuries and disorders that are otherwise unable to be diagnosed.
